For cartilage piercings, we always use slightly longer posts to accommodate for swelling that may occur during a new piercing. Once swelling subsides and healing is underway, you may be ready for a shorter post length for your threaded stud. The shorter length makes sure your earring stays flush against the skin and prevents it from migrating away from its original angle.
